H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi

- UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah

H.E. Suhail Mohamed AlMazrouei

- Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, UAE

H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei has held the position of the Minister of Energy since March 2013 before the Ministry turning in the Ministerial Formation of 2017 into the Ministry of Energy and Industry. In July 2020, the Ministry grew even bigger when merging with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, including the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, and the Federal Transport Authority Land & Maritime to become The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

H.E. Al Mazrouei is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Water and Electricity, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emirates General Petroleum Corporation, Member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ADNOC and Mubadala Investment Company.

Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of: (Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Nawah Energy Company, Barakah One Company), and Member of the Board of Directors of Dolphin Energy.

H.E. Al Mazrouei has considerable experience in corporate administration in different sectors, including ship building, defense systems, oil and gas services sector and real estate development.
 
H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei graduated in 1996 from the University of Tulsa in the United States of America with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was born in Dubai on July 1st, 1973. His hobbies include poetry, literature, and history.

H.E. Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri

- Minister of Climate Change and Environment, UAE

Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri is Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE. In this capacity, she leads the Ministry’s mission of spearheading the UAE’s drive to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change, protect the country’s ecosystems, and enhance its food and water security through developing and implementing effective measures, policies, and initiatives.

Prior to her current role, Her Excellency was Minister of State for Food and Water Security. Her responsibilities included monitoring national food stocks and water supply, channeling investments in food and water technology innovation, and building international partnerships in this area.

Previously, Her Excellency held the post of Minister of State for Food Security, where she oversaw the development of the necessary infrastructure to achieve the country’s food security objectives in line with the UAE Centennial 2071.

Earlier, she served as Assistant Undersecretary for Water Resources and Nature Conservation Affairs at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), where she headed the Biodiversity, Fisheries, Coastal & Marine Sustainability, and Marine Research Departments.

Her Excellency currently represents the UAE in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA). She is a member of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), the Boards of Trustees of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation and Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Food Systems Innovation, and the Emirates Research and Development Council.

Her Excellency is also a member of the National Higher Committee that oversees the preparations for the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.

Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri received a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany.

 

Francesco La Camera

Director General - IRENA

Francesco La Camera is the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). He took office on 4 April 2019 and brings more than thirty years of experience in the fields of climate, sustainability, and international cooperation.
 
In his role, Mr. La Camera is responsible for leading the delivery of IRENA’s work programme and strategy in cooperation with the Agency’s member states. At a critical time for climate change and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, Mr. La Camera is tasked with redefining the structure and operations of the Agency in response to the urgent needs of its members.  
 
Under his leadership the Agency has forged a series of new strategic partnerships with UN organisations including UNDP, UNFCCC and Green Climate Fund among others. A key priority of his tenure is to implement a more action-oriented approach to the Agency’s work.  
 
Previously, Mr. La Camera served as Director-General of Sustainable Development, Environmental Damage, EU and International Affairs at the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land & Sea since 2014. In this capacity, he developed cooperation and partnership agreements with a wide range of countries. As the national coordinator for climate, environment, resource efficiency and circular economy, he led the Italian delegation to UNFCCC’s COP 21 to 24 and the EU Presidency at COP 20. He was also responsible for the preparation and organisation of Italy’s G7 Environment Presidency in 2017. 

H.E. Munther Mohammed bin Shekar Al Zaabi

Director General - Ras Al Khaimah Municipality

His Excellency Munther Mohammed bin Shekar is the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality since 2014. Under his leadership, the Municipality has undergone an important transformation towards digitisation and smart services, has achieved higher integration of its departments and has expanded its scope into the field of energy sustainability. In order to ensure the most advanced municipal services to residents and businesses, Munther made significant steps towards strengthening and developing cooperation avenues with other leading entities in the government and the private sector.

Before joining the Municipality, Munther took senior management positions at Etisalat, Emirates Post and in the Office of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. His areas of responsibility in those positions included customer service, logistic operations and corporate communications respectively.

Munther is a graduate from the College of Literature, and believes in the principles of teamwork, creativity and continuous improvement.

 

H.E. Khaled Fadel AlAli

Director General - Public Services Department (PSD)

His Excellency Eng. Khaled Fadel AlAli has an experience of more than 17 years in the field of design and build telecom infra in mega project in Dubai.
 
He has Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Etisalat College - United Arab Emirates 2004. His Excellency held the position of Director General of Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah in 2022.
 
AlAli previously had managed mega projects in one of the largest companies in the United Arab Emirates, the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation / Etisalat, and he had a significant and prominent impact on the growth of telecommunications sector in terms of managing mega projects in the field of infrastructure services. His career was crowned with great success through the implementation of these projects.

H.E. Raki Philips

Chief Executive Officer - Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA)

Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) since June 2019, brings a wealth of industry experience to aid the continued growth of Ras Al Khaimah as one of the fastest growing destinations in the world.
 
Phillips joins RAKTDA from the Dubai based International Hospitality Consulting Group INHOCO, where he was Senior Partner and Senior Vice President of Development, responsible for hotel project pipelines exceeding $5 billion in assets. He is also the co-founder and CEO of SugarMoo Desserts, Dubai’s first online dessert delivery bakery and co-founder of Earth Hotels, a sustainable, tech-forward and design centric hotel concept.
 
Phillips, an American national and a fluent Arabic speaker, has a great understanding of the region having worked in the Middle East since 2005 and specifically in the UAE since 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA in Organizational Management.

H.E. Sharif Salim Alolama

Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs - UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Before joining the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure on 5 May, 2020, H.E. Sharif Salim Al-Olama has held several leading positions in ADNOC as the Head of the Executive Office; Senior Vice President for Planning and Performance, Senior Vice President of the Onshore Gas Assets, Vice President of Operations in the South East Fields, and Vice President of Engineering and projects.

H.E Sharif Salim Al-Olama has extensive experience in Engineering and Project Management, Strategy and Planning, Performance Management as well as in the field of investment, particularly in Oil and Gas services.

H.E. Essa Abdulrahman Al Hashmi

Assistant Undersecretary Sustainable Communities Sector & Acting Assistant Undersecretary Green Development & Climate Change Sector - UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

Mr. Essa AbdulRahman Al Hashemi is the assistant undersecretary for Sustainable Communities in the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. He has more than 15 years of experience in strategy development and implementation covering a wide range of sectors including infrastructure development, transportation and roads, environment management, food security, green development and quality infrastructure. In his current role, he oversees development of the national food security strategy in the UAE and adoption of technologies and their utilization in the agri-business sector, and facilitates the development of the country’s food security agenda.

He previously worked with the UAE Food and Water Security Office and the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology as the Director of Conformity Affairs and Chief Innovation Officer. He also served as Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Environment Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Water. Before that, he was the Director of Green Development and Chief Innovation Officer at the ministry. He also held senior positions at the Roads and Transport Authority, including the post of the Director of Planning and Business Development – Public Transport Agency.

H.E. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali

Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water and Future Energy Sector - UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Through his role in the Ministry, he is leading the development of strategies and policies for the Electricity & Water sector at the federal level and coordinates the sector’s efforts to achieve the UAE’s 2050 energy vision. Prior joining the Ministry, Eng. Yousif Al Ali was the Executive Director of Masdar Clean Energy Unit, leading areas of investment, greenfield development,  bidding, mergers & acquisitions, asset management and operations for local and global large-scale renewable energy projects. Part of his role in Masdar was to oversee Masdar’s Energy Services activities, and its growing portfolio of energy efficiency projects and off-grid renewable energy projects in the MENA region and international markets.

Eng. Yousif serves as a member in the board of Directors for the Federal Nuclear Regulation Authority and many other national and international companies like Shams Power Company, Jordan Wind Power Company (JWPC), Krnovo Green Energy (KGE) in Montenegor and Baynouna Solar Energy PSC.

Prior to Joining Masdar, Eng. Al Ali worked as a plant Engineer for Abu Dhabi Polymers at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

A UAE national with 18 years of outstanding renewable energy and petrochemical industries experience in Masdar Clean Energy.

Eng. Al Ali holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the IE Business School in Madrid, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from UAE University, in addition to being a certified Project Management Professional.

Dr. Mane Alsudairawi

Acting Director General - Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR)

Acting Director-General of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Executive Director Science and Technology Sector, KISR, 2017 to date responsible for Scientific leadership and Develop and lead a science,  technology, and innovation (STI) strategy for KISR.

Held several distinguished research and administration positions within the KISR.

Member of many national and international scientific and advisory committees.

The lead and participation in 30 scientific projects and services.

Author of more than 65 scientific publications in refereed journals, Patents, chapters in textbooks, and refereed conference procedure.

Gauri Singh

Deputy Director General - International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)

Gauri Singh is the Deputy Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency. Ms. Singh brings more than 30 years of experience in policy, advocacy and project implementation within the field of renewable energy and sustainable development from India and the international system.

Prior to joining IRENA, Ms. Singh worked within India’s federal government and at the apex level within provincial government. Federally, she was responsible for leading the development of the National Solar Mission of India policy in 2010, an early policy framework designed to drive solar power development across the country.

At the Madhya Pradesh provincial Government, Ms. Singh steered rural development providing strategic planning and implementation guidance across the state for large initiatives. Her work involved poverty reduction and sustainable development within rural communities. She was also responsible for spearheading initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods for nearly two million poor women across the state.

In Madhya Pradesh, Ms. Singh led livelihood projects based on decentralised renewable energy solutions to support rural artisans and ran an ambitious intervention to restore the flow of 40 rivers across the state, based on the use of remote sensing maps. She also played a key role in drafting the framework for the state Right to Water Act.

Prior to that, Ms. Singh was Director, Country support and Partnerships at IRENA where she was responsible for regional and country level initiatives and for spearheading partnerships with regional energy and economic organisations.

 

Marco Matteini

Industrial Development Officer, Decarbonization and Sustainable Energy Division - United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Marco is Industrial Development Officer with the Decarbonization and Sustainable Energy Division of UNIDO.  He has more than 20 years working experience in the development and implementation of international research and technical cooperation projects in the fields of renewable energy technologies, industrial energy efficiency and more recently district energy.

Since 2007 Marco has been part of the UNIDO team who has been developing the UNIDO Global Programme on Industrial Energy Efficiency, leading and coordinating the development of its energy management system (ISO 50001) and energy system optimization capacity building and implementation programmes.

Marco has worked to the development and/or implementation of industrial energy management and efficiency technical cooperation projects in South Africa, Moldova, Russian Federation, North Macedonia, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Colombia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus and Cuba.

Since 2008 Marco has been representing UNIDO in the ISO Project/Technical Committee 242 – Energy Management and now in ISO TC 301 – Energy Management and Energy Savings, where he has actively contributed to working groups’ activities and the drafting of ISO 50001 standards.

Marco holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy.

 

Christiane Egger

Deputy Manager - Upper Austria Energy Agency (Austria)

Christiane Egger is Deputy Manager of the OÖ Energiesparverband, the energy agency of Upper Austria, and the manager of the Cleantech-Cluster Energy, a network of 150 companies active in renewable energy and energy efficiency. 
 
Christiane is also the Vice-President of FEDARENE, the European network of regional energy and environment agencies. She is the conference director of the World Sustainable Energy Days, one of the largest annual conferences in Europe on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. 
 
Christiane is an expert in energy efficiency in buildings, in solar and biomass heating and in dissemination and promotion of sustainable energy production and use.
 
She holds a law degree and a post-graduate degree in environmental engineering.

Graeme Sims

Executive Director - Regulatory & Supervisory Bureau (RSB) Dubai

Graeme Sims is the Executive Director of Dubai’s Electricity and Water Regulator, the RSB.  An economist by background, he has over twenty five years’ experience of the electricity and water industries gained in the UK and UAE.    
 
Graeme was Deputy Director General at the UK’s Office of Electricity Regulation where he was responsible for the electricity industry in Scotland.  From there he moved to Abu Dhabi to establish the emirate’s water and electricity regulatory body, acting as its first Director General.  On his return to the UK he joined United Utilities, a FTSE100 utility company, serving as its Regulation Director and sitting on the board of United Utilities’ water business.      
 
Graeme is a graduate of Oxford University and began his career with the Boston Consulting Group.

 

Fawaz Al Muharrami

Executive Director - Masdar Clean Energy

Fawaz Hadi Salem Ali Al Muharrami is Acting Executive Director for Masdar’s Clean Energy division, where he is responsible for steering and guiding teams to achieve performance excellence in investment, greenfield development, bidding, mergers & acquisitions, asset management and operations for large-scale renewable energy projects locally and globally. He also oversees Masdar’s Energy Services activities, and its growing portfolio of energy efficiency projects and off-grid renewable energy projects.

Mr. Al Muharrami was previously the Director, Delivery, Bids and Supply Chain for Clean Energy. Mr. Al Muharrami joined Masdar in 2009 as an engineering manager at Hydrogen Power Abu Dhabi, and subsequently managed delivery of the Port Victoria Wind Power Project, a 6MW wind farm in the Seychelles launched in June 2013. Additionally, he was involved in securing the 117MW Tafila wind farm in Jordan, and a 50MW wind farm in the Sultanate of Oman, the first large-scale wind farm in the GCC. He later served as the Executive Managing Director of the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, an 800MW project won by a Masdar-led consortium that set a new world record for the lowest solar tariff in June 2016 and delivered the project successfully in 2020.

Mr. Al Muharrami also serves as a board member for the Dumat Al Jandal 400MW wind project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sharjah Waste to Energy project and the MBR Phase III project. He also served on a number of avisory committees for projects like the 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm in the UK and the ESI Carbon Capture project in Abu Dhabi.

Before joining Masdar, Mr. Al Muharrami worked for nine years in the oil and gas industry, including being project leader at the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO. He also served as senior process engineer in the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), and worked on numerous projects for clients such as the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGCL) of India and Iran Oil Company (IOC), among others.

Mr. Al Muharrami holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi, where he earned the distinction with highest honor. He also holds a Higher Diploma in Chemical Engineering with distinction.

Andrea Di Gregorio

Executive Director, Energy Efficiency and Renewables Office - Ras Al Khaimah Municipality

Andrea Di Gregorio is the Executive Director at the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Office (Reem) of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, UAE, with the mandate to support the development of the Emirate towards lower energy intensity and a higher share of renewables in the generation mix.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector in Europe and the Middle East, where he supported governments, oil & gas majors and leading utilities in the fields of strategy, operations improvement and energy efficiency.

Prior to joining Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Andrea Di Gregorio supported the activation of the Dubai Demand Side Management strategy as a PMO Director at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, UAE, and as a Director of Strategy and Continuous Improvement at TAQATI, UAE. Previously, he worked as a strategy consultant at Booz & Company and Oliver Wyman, and as a Business Unit Director at Bertelsmann.

He holds an MSc. summa cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an MBA from SDA Bocconi, Milan.

 

Ali Al Zaabi

Chief Operating Officer - Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC)

Ali Al Zaabi is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC). He is responsible for ENEC’s effective achievement of its overarching operational objectives and leads strategic procurement across the business.

Al Zaabi also oversees the governance framework of all ENEC projects, and ENEC’s enterprise risk management program.

Prior to becoming COO, Al Zaabi was the Executive Director for Project and Construction Management at ENEC’s Construction Project Office.

Al Zaabi has almost 20 years of experience in the UAE’s energy industry, across a wide variety of roles from planning to engineering. Before joining ENEC, Ali worked at several Abu Dhabi oil and gas entities under Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). He also served as a Projects Engineer at Abu Dhabi Distribution Company from 2003 to 2007.

Al Zaabi started his career at Abu Dhabi Polymer Company (Borouge), where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer and a SAP Maintenance Engineer from 2001 to 2003.

He holds a Masters in Engineering System Management from the American University of Sharjah and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Tulsa University, Oklahoma, USA.

Mozah Mohamed Alnuaimi

Director of Productivity and Demand Management Department - UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Mozah Mohamed Alnuaimi is the Director of Productivity and Demand in Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Project Manager of the National DSM. Holds a Master Degree in Engineering Management from UOWD, Diploma in Project Management, Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence.

Nawal Al Hanaee

Director - Future Energy Department - UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Eng. Nawal Alhanaee is currently working as Director of Future energy dept. in Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure - Dubai. She is also the deputy head of the happiness and wellbeing team and member innovation team in the ministry. She was working in the R&D Department and the Maritime Transportation Department before that.

She was involved in the Municipality affairs and projects since 2003, and she was as the Head of building section in 2006. In addition, she was as the head of building section and building material laboratory in 2008. After that, she was as the Director of project dept. in 2011 and she worked as Director of Engineering & Land dept. & head of building section from 2012 until 2017 and her work experience is 15 years in FM.

She is certified ICF coach and she holds a Public Sector Innovation Diploma from Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation. In addition to that I’m Certified Innovation Strategist (CInS) from GINI and I hold training course for Future Foresight from the Saïd Business School (Oxford Saïd).

She is a PhD candidate in British University of Dubai in the Architecture and Sustainable Built Environment (ASBE) program. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the UAE University and she holds a master’s degree of urban planning from American University of Sharjah.  Her area of specialty is Transportation, and she has experience and contributions in making strategic plans and studies for the improvement of public and customer services, managing big projects and environmental protection, as she is one of the core team in Fujairah 2040 master plan.

Marwa Obaid Al Taffag

Head of the Federal Buildings, Housing and Establishments Design - UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Engineer Marwa Obaid Al-Taffag, an architect, holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Ajman University and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the American University of Sharjah.

She has 8 years’ experience in the federal government in the fields of architecture, building and construction, urban planning and infrastructure. In addition to being a board member of the Emirates Society of Engineers, a member of the advisory board of the College of Architecture at Ajman University and a founding member of the Emirates Urban Planning Association. She obtained many accredited certificates, most notably, a diploma in government innovation from Imperial College of London, a diploma in the Fourth Industrial Revolution from Oxford University, in addition to obtaining a certificate of a scientific researcher accredited by the International Quality Learning Institute, and she also holds a certificate of a strategic innovation leader certified by the Global Institute for Innovation GINI.

Faisal Rashid

Senior Director - Demand Side Management - Dubai Supreme Council of Energy

Faisal Ali Rashid, U.A.E national, a degree holder of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Dayton, Ohio university, U.S.A 1991. Also, a certified PMP (Project Management Professional). Earn LSE professional certificate in the area of energy public policy making, board member of Emirates Green Building Council. Has a wide and solid experience in energy management including supply, strategy and demand. Has strong background in process industrial plant including oil & gas, power& water generation process, material handling process, glass manufacturing process etc. 
 
Current job is Senior Director - Demand Side Management in Dubai Supreme Council of Energy looking after the whole energy demand management spectrum of emirate of Dubai.  Served previously in oil and gas industry for many years as project division manager / Project Manager, handled mega feed and EPC projects and worked as general manager in glass manufacturing company as well.

 

Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi

Director, Asset Management and Technical Services - Masdar Clean Energy

Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi is the Director for Asset Management and Technical Services in the Clean Energy division of Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, Masdar.

In this capacity, he is the focal point of stakeholder management and interface with all utilities and service providers, leading all of Masdar’s initiatives related to water and sustainability, and playing a key role in shaping the regulatory framework for the energy sector in Abu Dhabi and UAE. He is working to enhance the performance of Masdar utility investments (joint ventures, special purpose vehicles) through effective and efficient governance to support the company’s overall strategy.

Mr El Ramahi joined Masdar in 2011 and has more than 20 years’ experience in the UAE energy sector. He is a certified Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and Chartered Environmentalist who sits on the boards of Shams-1 Power Company, a joint venture (JV) between Masdar and Total that built one of the world’s largest concentrated solar power projects and the first of its kind in the Middle East; Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited – the JV company owned by Statoil, Statkraft and Masdar responsible for building a 402MW wind farm off the coast of Norfolk, England; and Hywind Scotland, a JV between Masdar and Statoil which is developing the first commercial scale floating wind farm off the Scottish coast.

Prior to joining Masdar, Mr. El Ramahi held senior management positions in Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority for 14 years. He was actively involved in the water distribution sector, as the Water Asset Management Section Head, Water Projects Department Manager, and Water Services Division Manager of Abu Dhabi Distribution Company. In 2006, he was appointed as Network Services Director and, in 2009, as the Director of Asset Management.

Mr. El Ramahi graduated from Jordan’s University of Science and Technology in 1993 as a mechanical engineer, and was accredited the equivalent to a Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Water Engineering from the University of London in 2005.

Luc Kœchlin

Luc Koechlin holds a master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration from ESSEC Business school, one of the leading French Business School.

After 5 years as a consultant in Corporate Recovery and Turnaround Management for Arthur Andersen he joined EDF in 2005.

From 2005 to 2017, he has occupied various positions within EDF Group from advisor and auditor at EDF Presidency, to Regional Commercial Director managing the transformation of EDF to face the opening of the French electricity market to competition. 

He joined EDF International Division in 2017, as Vice President for Southern and Eastern Africa, based in Johannesburg, in charge of the development of the Group in the region. Renaud Capris

Chief Executive Officer - Enova

Since July 2019, Renaud Capris leads Enova, a joint-venture between Majid Al Futtaim and Veolia created in 2002, providing building energy and facility management services for a wide portfolio of public and private clients across the Middle East.

Renaud joined Enova after nearly two decades within the Veolia Group, working in positions across the Energy business in France and Eastern Europe. Renaud previously lead Siram by Veolia in Italy, focusing on energy efficiency across a wide portfolio of industries in the region.

Franco Atassi

Chief Executive Officer, Smart Infrastructure - Siemens Middle East

Atassi became CEO of Smart Infrastructure for Siemens in the Middle East in April 2019, after working for more than two decades for the company in the United States. He assumed additional responsibility for Oman in October 2021. Atassi served previously as Global Head of Siemens’ Life Science business, where he expanded the business by more than 65 percent from 2015 to 2018.

Based in the United Arab Emirates, he focuses now on creating the building blocks of smart cities that can improve our lives and protect our planet. His team draws on Siemens’ strengths in electrification, automation and  digitalization to help customers make more efficient and sustainable use of energy while also enhancing the comfort, safety and security of people who live and work in cities.

Atassi and his team played an integral role in Siemens’ partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai, helping to digitally connect more than 130 buildings at the Expo site to co-create a blueprint for future smart cities.

 Atassi worked from 2006 to 2011 as Area Manager for Siemens Energy Management, Low-Medium Voltage (LMV) for Region Americas, where he led the successful divisional integration of LMV with Siemens Building Technologies.

Hugh Richmond

Chief Executive Officer - Edina

Hugh Richmond is the CEO of Edina, a power generation company acquired by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) in 2018, a company wholly owned by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Edina is the official distributor for high-efficiency natural gas and hydrogen-ready MWM gas generators (a Caterpillar-owned brand) in the UK and a recognized solution provider in other locations around the world.

Edina carries out feasibility, detailed design, installation, asset-care services and complete turnkey solutions for decentralized power generation and energy storage solutions to customers within commercial buildings, industrial manufacturing sectors, hospitals, universities, sewage and waste treatment, glasshouses, and grid/utility balancing. Edina has dealt with a multitude of different gasses from natural gas, biogas, LNG and LPG, hydrogen, and syngas.

Cornelius Matthes

Cornelius is a well-respected leader and investor in the renewable energy industry and built several successful clean energy businesses and start-ups within Middle East and Africa. He has extensive board level experience from 10 years in Deutsche Bank (among others, youngest board member in Deutsche Bank Italy Group) and several leading renewable energy organisations and associations via pro bono work as well as different startup companies.

By building the international shareholder and partner network of Dii (Desertec Industrial Initiative), he was at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution in North Africa and the Middle East. A keen entrepreneur and investor in emerging markets with recognitions such as “Solar Pioneer 2015” for the Middle East, he is lecturing at several universities including St. Gallen and is a regular speaker at international conferences. Umar Khan

To this role, Umar Farooq Khan brings more than 22 years of experience in leadership and management, he joined Honeywell in 2020 and was leading Electrical products (EP) business. Here he drove growth and lead the Electrical Products’ business operations across the region.

Prior to joining Honeywell, he served as CEO of AW Rostamani Group being responsible for its electrical businesses, and also established and managed a first of its kind LED lighting end-to-end factory in the region. Before joining AW Rostamani, he spent seven years with General Electric where he served in a number of leadership roles including country manager for Kuwait and Pakistan and marketing and commercial development leader.

He has 20 years of experience on sustainability and energy management, 6 of them in the UAE, during which he has developed corporate sustainability strategies for government entities in the UAE as well as energy and waste masterplan strategies worldwide. He has also certified the sustainability of commercial buildings in the Middle East and Europe using LEED EBOM and carried out several energy audits.

Marc Buisson

Marc moved to EDF hydro-Engineering center in 2011 as project manager for the Gilboa PHS project in Israel, one of the first close loop project.

Ever since Marc has been working on Pumped-hydro Storage projects and was most recently EDF project manager of the HATTA project during the studies up to the start of the construction.
