Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) is a pivotal non-government organization dedicated to fostering sustainability within the built environment, proudly serving as the official Green Building Council for the UAE, with the endorsement of the World Green Building Council. Established in June 2006 with the goal of advancing green building principles for protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability in the United Arab Emirates, EmiratesGBC quickly achieved full membership in the World Green Building Council by September of the same year. Today, our community boasts more than 240 members, representing a diverse network of individuals passionate about advancing the green building movement throughout the UAE and the surrounding region.

Global Waste Cleaning Network

Global Waste Cleaning Network – GWCN is the world’s largest and most widespread environmental network. The non-profit network is comprised of NGOs, educational institutions, and private and public sector companies, that are active and interested in environmental issues related to the management and reduction of waste, whether solid, liquid or gaseous. GWCN is in particular dedicated to conserving and maintaining healthy oceans, coastlines, lands and the atmosphere for both people and nature. GWCN showcases and connects its network members, supports their environmental activities, contributes to environmental events and discussions, and fosters environmental research

UAE Alliance for Climate Action

The UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA) was launched at COP27 by Emirates Nature-WWF to create a multi-stakeholder coalition to advance climate ambition and action. Its vision is to build momentum towards near- and long-term net-zero science-based targets (SBT), foster non-state actor collaboration, and create a policy environment that supports entities’ decarbonization efforts in alignment with the Paris Agreement and the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050.

UACA is endorsed by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) as the flagship domestic non-state actor project in the UAE. UACA is supported by HSBC as its founding donor to help advance its objectives in accelerating climate mitigation in the UAE. UACA currently has more than 55 members who have committed to increase their ambition and implementation of decarbonization.

Dii Desert Energy

Launched in 2009, Dii Desert Energy (formerly ‘Desertec Industrial Initiative’) is an independent think tank and international network paving the way for ‘net zero emission’, secure and affordable energy from the deserts through green electrons and molecules. We aim at accelerating MENA’s energy transition in a global context (Desertec 3.0) and for this purpose, the ‘MENA Hydrogen Alliance’ was launched in early 2020, followed by the ‘Zero Emissions Traders Alliance’ (ZETA) in 2023.

Desert Energy is connecting the regional and international industry with authorities and institutions and focuses on practical conditions along the emission- free energy value chains. Dii’s platform of more than 126 companies and organizations from over 36 countries is mobilizing top executives, government decision makers, R&D institutions and academia.

Advancing Net Zero Volunteering Team

Advancing Net Zero Volunteering Team is a not-for-profit platform led by UAE experts with the objective of accelerating decarbonization of cities in the UAE.

Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) is an intergovernmental organization with diplomatic status that aims to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices across pan-Arab countries. RCREEE is the official technical arm institution of both League of Arab State – Energy Department and Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity (AMCE). It is the 1st environmental NGO in the world to be ISO 14001 certified and the only organisation of its kind in the UAE with accredited status to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

EEG is a member of the UN Global Compact, the Global Urban Development (GUD) and the Global Investors for Sustainable Alliance (GISD). OSGP Alliance

OSGP Alliance, founded in 2006 as the Energy Services Network Association (ESNA), is an independent global, not-for-profit association that promotes the adoption of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and related services and infrastructure for smart grid applications. Members include utilities, software, hardware and service providers, and solution integrators that share a common goal and vision for promoting open standards for energy demand side management, smart grid and smart metering systems.

OSGP Alliance promotes the change in perspective of the current metering business, from selling isolated units, into offering interoperable smart meter management systems as an embedded element in the total value chain of energy sales and distribution. In addition, AMM, based on OSGP AMI architecture, offers added value in achieving the political objectives such as; saving energy and reducing CO2 blast and ensuring stability of the grid. Last but not least it will also contribute to more consumer satisfaction, in supporting a better understanding of energy consumption and as basis for a competitive energy purchase.
